We are the oldest Masonic outpost
still operating in Florida
Orange Lodge No. 36 is the oldest Lodge Building in continuous use in the state of Florida. The Lodge was established under a warrant issued on January 14th, 1856.

We are a Moon Lodge, home to generations of great men and fellow brothers from gardeners to Mayors, business owners, store assistants, and your everyday workmen from all walks of life. Men come from miles around to visit the community of Apopka, and many have become Freemasons within our fraternity.
A Moon Lodge is quite unique these days and only a few still exist. It is called Moon Lodge because the route to our Lodge Room (the place where we hold our meetings) is illuminated by the light of the moon. There were no street lights when we were founded, so moonlight helped brothers find their way. The distinct sound of our trumpet sounded on the evenings of our meeting dates as a beacon and guide to lead the way. To this day we still blow the trumpet to call our meetings. Generations of good men have kept our values and traditions alive.

Apopka used to be a small town called The Lodge, but in 1882 it was renamed and chartered as the City of Apopka. Our building was erected here in 1859. The upper storey has been continually used for Lodge meetings. The original lower floor was used as a post office, a school, a church and even a general store. Due to the effects of deterioration and highway widening, the lower storey of our Lodge was replaced in 1952.

Today Orange No. 36 has over 120 active members, each and every one is a fine upstanding gentleman. 12 Officers rotate roles at the Lodge every year, the officers have roles within the Lodge and Lodge Room and are governed accordingly.
History

Not Just a Man. A Mason.
What is a Freemason? A Freemason is a man committed to bettering himself and his community, governed by a system of morality, to better the future life of his friends and family. He is on a journey of self-discovery believing in something greater than himself. A journey in which he will be supported by other good men and his fellow Masonic Brothers. Become the best version of you. Answer the call. Begin the journey.

It is the role of our Worshipful Master to run and operate all activities and functions within the Lodge. Each year a new Worshipful Master is elected by the other Brothers, and each officer could be elected to move into a different role or seat (including that of Worshipful Master). The journey takes years of discipline, practice, dedication, and knowledge. It is a highly respected position in every Lodge.
The title of Worshipful Master may sound a little extreme to some, but it is simply a respectable term for the man who is responsible for the overall well-being and smooth running of the Lodge. He is the leader who is most respected and looked up to.
